We want you to be happy with your order and your experience shopping Modern Karibou. We make every effort to select and sell products constructed of the highest-grade materials built by highly skilled people to exacting standards. We also keep up-to-date information on all our products so that you may make informed purchases.
However, we understand that you may simply change your mind and need to return an item. To that end, we have made our returns options as clear and as painless as possible.
You may return your item(s) within 30 days of receipt for a refund of the purchase price excluding shipping and handling costs.
All returns require pre-authorization, so please contact us to receive instructions prior to sending back your merchandise.
Items must be:
- postmarked within 30 days of receipt
- unassembled (if applicable)
- in their original condition
- in their original packaging, complete with all tags, instructions, and inserts
We also ask that a copy of your receipt be included with the item(s) your are returning. After the return is received and processed, you will be refunded the purchase price of the item(s) in the same form in which you paid for it. You are responsible for all shipping costs associated with returning the item. For purchases under $100, you will not be refunded the flat $12 shipping fee.
You will receive a refund once the product is received in the warehouse and the merchandise has been inspected. Please allow 1-2 weeks for processing.
There are two exceptions to our 30-day return policy:
- Custom, made-to-order items are considered final sale and cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded unless damaged upon receipt. This can include items where you've selected color, fabric, upholstery, finish, material, size and/or configuration. It also includes some handmade items.
- Opened bedding products are considered final sale and cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded.
Some of the products available on Modern Karibou are custom made-to-order and our manufacturers offer numerous options to fit your needs. Such items typically include furniture, where you can select color, fabric, upholstery, finish, material, size and/or configuration.
There are other instances where items may not be customizable, but they are handmade and subject to the same return policy as "custom" products.
Both types of items are considered final sale and cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded unless damaged upon receipt.
When an item is considered "custom," Modern Karibou indicates this below the customs options on the right-hand side of the product page, as well as on the website page where you review the product before placing your order. This way, you are fully aware of all relevant information before you make your purchase.

Please contact us within 24 hours if your order arrives damaged (this time limit is required for insurance purposes). We will work with you to ensure your item(s) are repaired or replaced in a timely manner at no extra cost to you.
We ask that you inspect the packaging and items immediately upon receipt and indicate on the packaging and/or paperwork if there is visible damage. You may also choose to refuse delivery of the item(s) if the damage appears severe.
In order to process your claim, please send us up to three low-resolution digital photos including one photo of the box that the item shipped in, to firstname.lastname@example.org. Make sure to keep all of the original packaging material!
Order Modifications & Cancellations
Please contact us within 24 hours of placing your order should you need to cancel or modify it. If the order has already been shipped from our warehouse or the manufacturer, it is unlikely we will be able to cancel it or make changes. In that event, you may need to return the item within our 30-day return policy.
