While appearing to be an inlay, the branch image is actually a vector graphic that has been printed directly onto the wood by a large format printing house in Vancouver, BC. The graphic has to be applied to the two pieces while laying flat and assembled and clear coated after the printing process.
Using new techniques like this allows Gregory to dictate the exact colour, size, and opacity of the image and nudges him towards a more 21st century approach to his woodwork. A clear lacquer is used on top to allow the natural beauty of the cedar to show through.
Individually handcrafted in Vancouver, BC from yellow cedar, ink, and lacquer.
